Research: Fashion, Bodies and Media

2022: My research explores the tension between fashion, body and social media in the work of Ibrahim Kamara - One of fashion industry's most in-demand young stylists. He uses Instagram and especially tumblr to reflect his own transcultural experiences and creative practice: Born in Sierra Leone, Kamara grew up in Gambia and moved to London at the age of 16, he studied at Central Saint Martins. For Kamara, Instagram and tumblr are a freely configurable space where he can express his influences, fashion references and own identity. This research spotlights the diversity of practices of fashion - reflecting fashion, bodies using social media as framework.
